Magnesium - a crucial mineral that cannot be overlooked

Magnesium - a crucial mineral that cannot be overlooked

Magnesium (Mg) is essential for more than 300 biochemical functions in the body. Study indicates that almost half of the US population consumed less than the required amount.

Why is magnesium important?

Bone Health - Low magnesium level in our body can affect the hormone that regulate the calcium balance. Also, magnesium supplementation might help to improve bone density and might have positive effect in preventing osteoporosis.

Study also has shown that the higher the dietary intake of the magnesium, the lower the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

The balance of magnesium and calcium is important in regulating blood pressure.

Muscle relaxation - If you experience muscle spasm, especially at night time, or if you have muscle weakness, your body likely is depriving of magnesium. Topical Magnesium is also an excellent way to relieve muscle soreness and tightness.

The most common forms of magnesium are oxide and carbonate salts but they have very low absorption rate. Only 4% for magnesium oxide! When magnesium is not absorbed well, it can cause diarrhea. Chelate form of magnesium (e.g. magnesium bisglycinate) can readily be recognized and utilized by the body which is a Mg of choice.
